Lower School Admissions Process

Through the elementary and middle school years, our experienced teachers unlock each child’s potential through differentiated academics, foreign languages, athletics, arts, STEM and enriching field trips.

Visit

Parents and students are invited to schedule a guided tour of our beautiful campus or attend an open house to learn more about our program.

Apply

Fill out and submit an application for your child.

Attend

First-grade applicants participate in a teacher-led 90-minute activity session with other applicants.

Second through fifth-grade applicants must visit Loudoun Country Day School for a full day. During the classroom visit, grade level assessments will be administered in reading, writing, and math by the classroom teacher.

Submit

Each applicant must provide a transcript of his or her academic record from their current school and a recommendation from a teacher who has taught the applicant. LCDS provides online recommendation forms.

Please submit the Parent’s Authorization to Release Student Records form directly to your child’s school. All records or transcripts must be sent directly from the applicant’s school to LCDS.

Applicants for first through eighth grades must complete the WISC-V, a long-standing cognitive assessment administered by a licensed clinical psychologist. Results should not be more than a year old.

Applicants for first-grade who have not reached their sixth birthday at the time of testing should provide the results of the WPPSI evaluation, administered by a licensed clinical psychologist. A list of area psychologists who provide this service is available in the Admissions office.

Summer applicants must complete the grade-level assessments administered during a visit to the school.
