Dr. Kim joined the LCDS Music Department in 2014. A native of Daejeon, South Korea, she began studying violin at the age of 8. Her Master’s was completed at Queens College, CUNY where she studied with Daniel Phillips of the Orion Quartet. She then went on to receive her D.M.A. from Catholic University. Dr. Kim is an active concert violinist and orchestra player. She currently serves as the principal second violin of the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, she has been invited to play with many orchestras in the New York and Virginia area. Dr. Kim is an expert teacher with over a decade of experience teaching violin and viola to all ages and all levels, from beginner to advanced. A large number of her students have been chosen for the greater D.C. area’s top youth orchestras, and successfully auditioned for Virginia’s District, Regional and All-State orchestras. She believes that is it through music that she can best serve people with truth, faith and love.
