We are committed to instilling a sense of moral responsibility in our students. Our project-based curriculum integrates service learning at every opportunity. We partner with many local organizations including Mobile Hope, Loudoun Hunger Relief, Paws4Vets, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Smashing Walnuts Foundation, Soldiers' Angels, Operation Gratitude, E-Nable, Loudoun First Responders, Loudoun Humane Society, and local assisted living facilities. Students participate in service activities designed to develop a true humanitarian spirit and contribute to fundraisers for charitable causes. The goal is to develop students who have a deep understanding of the difference one person can make.
Featured Service Activities
Feeding the Hungry
LCDS students of all ages work at JK Community Farm to grow and donate fresh, chemical-free produce and protein for local food pantries. Middle school students work in-site at Mobile Hope to pack and distribute food and necessities to families in need. 3rd graders run our annual Thanksgiving food drive with this year's Thanksgiving Food Drive setting a new record-187 bags of food, plus over 150 Wegmans and Harris Teeter gift cards were given to Loudoun Hunger Relief!
Honoring Veterans
Each year, Veterans Day is a special time to pay tribute to our military veterans who have served in our armed forces. We welcomed our esteemed guests, our Veterans, to Loudoun Country Day School for a day of honoring them.
Enabling the Disabled Community
7th Grade students 3D print prosthetic hands in STEM class, which they then donate to kids in need through the E-Nable organization. Students develop an understanding of disability and focus on the importance of supporting people with disabilities- all while they learn about 3D printing and biomechanics.
Supporting Our Troops
Middle School students make paracord lanyards for active military service members and donate them through Operation Gratitude. The entire school comes together annually to collect Halloween candy that we ship overseas to our troops.
Connecting Generations
Our youngest students spread joy to the residents of senior living communities by singing holiday songs, creating pictures with the residents, and handing out handmade cards made by our Middle School Service Club.
Donating to Paws4Vets
Each year, our students raise money to support Paws4Vets, an organization that provides service dogs to US veterans. In 2024 alone, we raised over $7000 for this worthy cause. At the end of the campaign, students get to meet a veteran and their service dog to learn about how their donations make a difference.
