Why LCDS?

Why LCDS?

Academic Excellence

LCDS offers a challenging and engaging curriculum. Project-based learning experiences are designed to help students think independently, tackle problems with confidence and collaborate with others. Our graduates are routinely accepted into the region’s most academically rigorous high schools. Alumni consistently report being very well prepared as high school freshmen in English, math, social studies, science, World Languages and technology.

Whole Child Approach

We are dedicated to a whole child approach that develops each student intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically and creatively. All the “extras” are part of our curriculum — including arts, athletics, music, STEM, outdoor education and World Languages. This wide array of experiences helps students become fearless learners who can step outside their comfort zones, try new skills and discover their talents. Through integrated service learning and character education, we also prepare our students to be caring, compassionate leaders and global citizens.

Small Class Sizes

An average student-teacher ratio of 6:1 ensures our teachers have the time to truly get to know every student in their classes. Faculty recognize and celebrate every child’s voice, address individual strengths and challenges and provide plenty of personal attention. Our smaller class sizes also lead to greater opportunities for student participation.

Outstanding Faculty

Exceptional faculty are a hallmark of Loudoun Country Day School. Lasting relationships are forged as our teachers mentor students both in and out of the classroom. With the freedom to innovate to meet each student’s needs, our faculty love what they do and wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else.

Nurturing Environment

At LCDS, we celebrate childhood while also focusing on early leadership development. We encourage all students to treat one another with kindness, and we provide many opportunities for our Middle School students to serve as role models and mentors to the younger children on campus.

Supportive Community

LCDS is an inclusive community where both parents and students forge lifelong friendships. Together, our dedicated educators and involved parents work toward a common mission. One of the most common refrains from our parents and students is that LCDS is truly a family.
